Mortimer/RE was founded in 2024 by Jeremy Aitchison, Harry Aitchison and Lucy Winterburn and is 100% privately owned by the 3 founding Directors.
Jeremy, Harry and Chris Mills had previously operated a very successful Development Management business trading as Aitchison Developments since 2016. They had established a strong track record of delivering high quality projects predominantly within the industrial and logistics sectors.
Lucy Winterburn, previously a Fund Manager for over 20 years at Savills Investment Management and a former client of the Aitchison Development business, decided to join the Team in 2024 triggering a rebrand and reset. Lucy brings a wealth of investment and asset management experience which will play a key role in the business’ future direction of travel, enhancing the Team’s capabilities to consider mandate appointments alongside their very successful development focused activity.
With an emphasis on value-add strategies, Mortimer/RE aims to deliver projects that not only meet commercial objectives but also integrate sustainability at their core. Our approach will prioritise environmental and social responsibility across all aspects of real estate ownership and development.
Jeremy has +45 years of commercial real estate experience.
He started his career in the industrial agency department of Savills in 1980 and was appointed as a main board director in 1989. In 1993 he left Savills and started a development company called Parlison Properties. There he spearheaded retail warehouse development with many successful developments undertaken on behalf of Pillar Property Plc and later British Land during the period 1995 until 2008. He then re engaged with the industrial sector and led the company into a number of successful industrial developments on behalf of a Corporate Investment Fund managed by Savills Investment Management.
In 2017 Jeremy launched Aitchison Developments with the aim of focussing on the industrial and logistics sector. Within 12 months the company had 5 developments on the go including the well known Bourn Quarter scheme just outside Cambridge. His son Harry joined the company in 2022 and with the arrival of Lucy the company then re branded to Mortimer RE.
Jeremy has a wealth of experience in development mainly focussed on the industrial sector and can be seen presenting development proposals to a planning committee one day and meeting occupiers and contractors on site the next. His contacts in the industry go far and wide.
Outside the office Jeremy is a keen motorcyclist both on and off road and enjoys sailing and mountain biking. More recently he has been a committed supporter of Ukraine and been there three times delivering trucks loaded with medical and humanitarian aid.
Lucy has +25 years of commercial real estate experience.
She is a chartered surveyor, member of the IPF and holds an IMC certificate.
Prior to joining the Mortimer/RE Team, Lucy managed commercial real estate portfolios at Savills Investment Management with a strong emphasis on value add strategies and development. Lucy’s main mandate comprised a multi-sector UK property portfolio which she managed with full discretion on behalf of a FTSE 100 Corporate Pension Fund. The mandate enjoyed considerable success during her +20 year tenure consistently outperforming its MSCI benchmark over every time horizon. Lucy brings a wealth of commercial real estate knowledge and experience to the Mortimer/RE Team covering the full risk/return spectrum with an impressive track record in acquisition origination and execution, intensive asset and portfolio/risk management and development through multiple market cycles delivering strong, sustainable outcomes.
In addition to her full time role at Mortimer/RE, Lucy is a Non Executive Board Director of the Value and Indexed Property Income Trust Plc.
Unlike her fellow Directors, she is not a keen motorcyclist or sailor but does enjoy traveling, going to the theatre and spending time with her husband and 2 teenage daughters.
Harry has over 7 years of experience in the commercial real estate sector and is a RICS Chartered Surveyor.
He began his career at Knight Frank where he was on the graduate scheme for 2 years, before he qualified in 2020 and joined the residential mixed-use development team. During his time at Knight Frank, Harry was seconded to the Landsec Investment Team where he gained a wide variety of experience across different asset classes.
Harry joined Aitchison Developments in 2022 and has since overseen projects at all stages of the property cycle from pre-planning and acquisition, through to construction, leasing and sale. He has taken an active role in our efforts to build more sustainable and energy efficient buildings and has played a key part in adopting and implementing new technologies.
Outside of the office he is a keen sailor and regularly competes in regattas and races in the UK and further afield. Much like Jeremy, he also enjoys everything on two wheels and can often be spotted walking round development sites in his motorcycle gear.
Chris has 40 years experience as a Chartered Surveyor in the commercial real estate market, he started his career at Strutt & Parker before moving into commercial property development. He has been responsible for the development of both Industrial and Office schemes throughout the UK.
He joined the Aitchison Developments business in 2017. He remains a consultant to Mortimer/RE. Chris has previously been a director of both public and private property companies as well as an Executive Director of CBRE in charge of their asset management department.
Chris is a keen sailor, racing a Dragon in Abersoch, N Wales and a cyclist in his spare time. He also played Rugby for Richmond FC where he is a Past President and is currently Chairman of Richmond Athletic Association.
Chris regularly presides over charity auctions on behalf of The Princes Trust, Great Ormond St & The Royal Marsden hospitals, DEBRA, The SMA Trust, Action Medical Research and numerous other charities & organisations.
Freya has 5 years of experience in the Real Estate sector.
She began her career at Aitchison Developments (now Mortimer RE) in 2019 where she completed a part time MSc with the University of Reading.
Freya rejoined Mortimer RE in 2025 having gained experience redeveloping the UK’s largest wholesale fruit and veg market and experienced the challenges that go with working on a live site with over 170 tenants.
Outside of the office Freya is an avid gym-goer with a love of cooking and travel and can also be seen visiting site in motorbike leathers.
